Dear Parents
Thank you for all your support with our new pick up system this week. Although as I write, we’ve only had the very first day, the signs are encouraging and all feedback has been very positive. Thank you for working with us to keep everyone safe and to keep the school open.
This week, it has been great to see the children back in school and enjoying their learning. Our Mission Week this week was led by Coral Class and they have focussed on Remembrance. Although it isn’t possible to have our usual Acts of Communal Remembrance on Remembrance Sunday this year, we have been encouraging the children to wear their poppies and to say the Eternal Rest prayer for the dead during November.
In school on Wednesday 11th November at 11am, we will hold a two minute silence in all classes, to help the children understand the significance of this national event. Coral Class have made Poppy Lanterns for every class, so we can light a candle and remember those who gave their lives in the service of our country. Next week we are looking forward to Blue Class Mission Week and Garnet Class Mass.
Next week in school, Reception parents will have their first Parent Consultations. We will be using the SchoolCloud online system, which worked successfully with the rest of the school in November. Please look out for the link to book your online appointment with your child’s class teacher.
The Parent Association (PA)are collecting Clothing Recycling next Wednesday morning, so maybe take the opportunity of a quiet weekend in lockdown to declutter your cupboards and bring in some textiles. In a separate collection, coats are being collected on the same occasion to be given to the homeless in London. Thank you for your generosity in supporting our school charitable ventures!
A huge thank you to the PA who have been working tirelessly on a number of different ventures from Pumpkin trails to Tea towels and from Christmas card projects to clothing collections! Thank you to the support of all our community in helping the PA to raise money even during this difficult time! We are delighted that the PA have been able to agree funding for the 30 new desktop computers to go into the newly commissioned computer suite. These are now on order and we hope the suite will be in action by January 2021. Thank you for your continued support for the PA fundraising projects!
Finally – the next Coffee and Conversation Q and A will be via Zoom on Thursday 19th November at 9:15am. We will take any final feedback from parents regarding the Relationships, Sex and Health Education consultation which was sent out last half-term (and attached again for your reference). The policy will go to Governors for final approval later this month. Any general questions about any topic can also be submitted in advance via the school office email office@cardinalnewmanschool.co.uk
All best wishes for the weekend
