Dear Parents
Only a very brief round-up in this week’s newsletter as the main information about the full re-opening on Monday 8th March has already been shared (in Tuesday’s letter).
Next Week’s Events:
Monday 1st at 8:45am – Whole School Collective Worship on Teams at 8:45am led by Mrs Burnham. St David’s Day
Wednesday 3rd March at 8:15am – Zoom Q and A about reopening. All welcome. Please send any questions you may have in advance – we have tried to pre-empt anything parents may need to know, but it is hard to predict everything, so do come along if you would like to. A summary of responses will be circulated afterwards.
Thursday 4th March – World Book Day – Children are invited to dress as a character from a Roald Dahl book (quite a few to choose from!) and there will be year group activities through the day including an opportunity for the children to see each other dressed up! World Book Day voucher information has already been shared (click here) – these can be used online this year
Friday 5th March – INSET Day brought forward from later in March – there will be no children in school on this day while we undertake preparations for the full reopening on Monday 8th March.
Lent – Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving
Thank you to Fr Bill and our Year 6 children who led the Stations of the Cross beautifully this morning. It was a lovely way for us to come together as a community and to share some time to reflect on Jesus’ journey to the cross. The next Stations of the Cross will take place at 11am on Friday 12th March, led by our Year 5 children. Parents are warmly welcome to join us.
Well done to our older children (and our staff!), both those at home and in school, who have chosen to have a soup lunch today (instead of a main meal) to show solidarity with those who are hungry around the world. “Fasting” is one way we can show our love for Jesus during Lent, while another is charitable giving or “almsgiving.” Our children and families have donated money from today’s “fast” to the CAFOD Lent Appeal. Thank you for supporting the children to understand this act of love in the context of our world.
As Spring does now seem to have arrived (and let’s hope it stays!) I wish you and your families a lovely weekend in the sunshine.
All best wishes
Catherine Burnham
